Effectiveness Trial

American Institutes for Research’s (AIR) experienced research team will conduct an independent Effectiveness Trial of ASSISTments in partnership with the development team at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), who will implement the intervention across seven geographically and culturally diverse school systems.

ASSISTments has been shown to significantly improve student outcomes in a recent Institute of Education Sciences (IES) Goal 3 efficacy study (Roschelle, Feng, & Mason, 2016). The Effectiveness Trial will help ASSISTments be scaled to a diverse population of student and teachers.

The project has the potential to improve math achievement in seven sites, 80 schools, and an estimated 96 teachers and 16,000 students across the country, and expand the limited research based on the effectiveness of math instructional programs that use educational technologies.
